Uh ... Good question but considering how sold (almost in bulk) it should not be very dangerous (I guess ...)

I also confirm that the nuts on their own have a hard time washing my clothes, pretty dirty I admit;)
But if I add a quarter of a scoop of detergent, it will foam as if I had put a max! (laundry)
And the result is as clean as before with 1 whole scoop.

again:

we get the ash from our barbecue (or fireplace for the lucky ones who have it), it sieves it to remove the charcoal. We then take 2 glasses (Durale type) of ash that is put in 1 liter of water. Let stand 24h stirring occasionally. Filter the mixture (it must be transparent and slightly yellow) and put 1 glass in the laundry compartment. We can then perfume the linen with a few drops of essential oil (lavender for example)
If you do not trust (like me at first), you can try the first time with dish towels, towels, etc. then go to the laundry.
I advise to be careful and not overestimate the amount of ash (type: I put more, it will wash better!) Because the mixture, if too concentrated, may be aggressive to the fingers (loss of fingerprints to high concentration !!!!!).
We are very happy and our laundry is clean, does not smell of smoke (we do not put essential oil) and all that for not a round

: Mrgreen: you have to pass on the info !!!!!!

Hi, Sivencl.

Reading this sentence, I think I have found an area of economic improvement in your home: the dryer.

It is true that it is not always funny to have the dryer in the middle of the living room is winter, but this machine is an economic aberation:
Of all household appliances, clothes dryers are the biggest consumers of energy. A dryer consumes an average of 500 kWh per year (2 to 3 times more than a washing machine), it alone represents 15% of the average annual electricity consumption of a household, excluding heating.

source: Ekopedia

In addition, this drying method does not mess up the laundry: "baking" elastic bands (socks, briefs, etc.), shrinkage or deformation of certain fabrics ...

In short: to banish as soon as possible.

Thank you, Targol.

It’s actually not been long since I got started, and I still have a long way to go.
This ecological nonsense had not escaped me. I did not succeed in convincing my wife not to use the tumble drier any more because she is handicapped, in an armchair most of the time and hanging the linen is almost impossible for her ...;
At least for large pieces (sheets).
By cons almost all the rest is hanged, especially if I'm there ..
After calculation, my consumption with the dryer is about 300kw per year. It never runs during peak periods. The low temperature position is most of the time used.
I have a second econological nonsense at home: 2 clim's! For the same reason: my wife's illness ... which the heat makes particularly unbearable.
Fortunately, the Inverter air conditioning has reduced in return the consumption of electricity due to heating: I do not consume more since I have air conditioning (2002) than before, despite the heat waves.
Rest on the real problem that this thing is not reasonable in ecological terms, but apart from taking refuge in the cellar during heat waves, I do not have the solution.
Does anyone know where I can find out what is the average consumption of a couple + a child in a 155m² house in Ile de France in 1) Electricity Excluding heating 2) Electric heating + electric water heater?
that I at least try to do better, despite the adversity of the disease ....

The majority of "able-bodied" do not make the slightest effort on this subject. No one will dare to blame you for trying to make your wife's disability easier.

The fact that this environmental awareness is fairly recent is no exception on your part. Myself, 5 years ago, I had a gas boiler installed because I did not know the environmental implications of this fuel.

Any awareness, even late, is another chance for our ecosystem. Do what you can at your level without sacrificing the basic needs of your wife, no one here will blame you for that.

In addition, even being a convinced ecologist, I too have my inconsistencies: I do 80Km round trip every day to go and work alone in my Picasso Diesel. I regret it, but I have no choice: already in the city center, Bordeaux, it is not top level public transport but to make "suburb" / "suburb", it is nothing.

With us, the detergent for several years has been Marseille soap melted in water. It is effective, less irritating and much cheaper than chemical detergent.
