For having tested Ciao (look for the member "Targol"), I would qualify by saying that it is good to get a general idea on products which have lots of reviews, but internally the system is completely corrupt.
Indeed, these opinions are paid based on the number of positive ratings that other members give to reviews.
These ratings range from "uninteresting" to "exceptional" through "interesting" and "very interesting".
The result is that if you rate an "interesting" review, you get spoiled by its author (even if the review in question doesn't break a duck's three legs) because it won't earn enough money.
Another undesirable effect of this system is that some unscrupulous people, in order to earn cash, will write "cut and paste" reviews on products that they have not even tested.
In short: do not take Ciao advice for cash.
