Comparative

by The Passing » 14/11/05, 14:02

Well, I fell for it and I finally ordered 3 lamps from "Zone-Ecolo". I can now compare with the one I already owned, bought from "Pearl".

Assessment: the lamp of "Pearl" is null :)

The explanation of the difference is mainly a much larger capacitor on the "Zone-Ecolo" lamp, nothing to do. The capacitor of the "Pearl" lamp is 10mm in diameter by 5mm in maximum height. That of the "Zone-Ecolo" lamp is approximately 35mm in diameter by 15mm in height ...

Volume of the condenser 14,4cc for "Zone-Ecolo" against 0,4cc for "Pearl" .... there is no mystery therefore.

In terms of comfort, the "Zone-Ecolo" lamp is quieter by the use of magnetic stops (instead of spring + flexible plastic stop).

The "Zone-Ecolo" lamp is indeed recommended!

Bertrand: no we are talking about this one: https://www.econologie.com/lampe-torche- ... -1662.html (there is also a special offer reserved for econology visitors!)

Benoit: well here is a good decision ... You see that I told no bullshit! 8)

LED lamp

by Bertrand » 14/11/05, 21:46

I will certainly buy one it looks good this lamp in addition c true that we still struggle when we are looking for batteries in the dark ^^

I would take advantage of it to measure the power provided by a magnet ale (well if there is a way to open it without destroying it)

I work as a counter salesman at a wholesaler in electrical equipment I could see for a presentation of this lamp (to see)

I don't think we can open it without destroying it :(

In fact the only drawback of this lamp is precisely the power of its magnet: it erases or scrambles all magnetic data ... bank card included :( So be careful when you put it in your pocket!

If you don't forget to take advantage of the free shipping via the sponsor econology code :)

yes c true c for home care "to make toy" and not in the pocket c clear :)

In fact I was curious about the power produced by the system could it produce enough energy to run a small electric motor? (Of course not with a single magnet)

Could we use the property of magnets to avoid "shaking" and allow the displacement of the magnet once in one direction and once in the other all to create a small autonomous generator allow to power a few LEDs

well it's true i am delirious a little bit :) "serious"

small comparison of these battery-free LED lamps ...

by The Passing » 16/11/05, 22:20

Test on the following lamps:

- Lamp 1: Pearl, with "deluxe" rotary dynamo + 600mAh NiMH battery
- Lamp 2: Pearl, with linear dynamo + capacitor
- Lamp 3: Ecolo Zone, with linear dynamo + capacitor
- Lamp 4: Pearl, with rotary dynamo + NiMH 100mAh battery (estimated)
- Lamp 5: IDK Multimedia, with rotary dynamo + 35mAh Li-ion battery

The method: all the lamps were discharged until the LEDs were completely extinguished, ignition button on ON. I then took each lamp one by one to subject it to the following steps:
- mechanical recharge for 90 seconds (one minute 30 seconds)
- change to my small homemade "measuring bench"

Overall ranking:
- 1st: Lamp 1: Pearl, with "deluxe" rotary dynamo + 600mAh NiMH battery
- 2nd: Lamp 5: IDK Multimedia, with rotary dynamo + 35mAh Li-ion battery
- 3rd: Lamp 3: Ecolo zone, with linear dynamo + capacitor
- 4th: Lamp 4: Pearl, with rotary dynamo + NiMH 100mAh battery (estimated)
- 5th: Lamp 2: Pearl, with linear dynamo + capacitor

Classification by category, condenser lamps:
- 1st: Lamp 3: Ecolo Zone, with linear dynamo + capacitor
- 2th: Lamp 2: Pearl, with linear dynamo + capacitor

Classification by category, accumulator lamps:
- 1st: Lamp 1: Pearl, with "deluxe" rotary dynamo + 600mAh NiMH battery
- 2nd: Lamp 5: IDK Multimedia, with rotary dynamo + 35mAh Li-ion battery
- 3th: Lamp 4: Pearl, with rotary dynamo + NiMH 100mAh battery (estimated)

Duration up to a 50% decrease in brightness:
- Lamp 1: 5 minutes and 30 seconds
- Lamp 5: 5 minutes
- Lamp 4: 1 minute and 50 seconds
- Lamp 3: 1 minute
- Lamp 2: 40 seconds

No, these are not lux, but it must be proportional I think. This is why I used the words "relative luminosities";)

Yes, I never really understood the light units because they must always be reduced to a surface unit (or a viewing angle?) And a spectrum ...

Well I said nothing, answers here: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux_%28unit%C3%A9%29 et http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumen

On econo we learn it every day :)
