... which will be grateful to you for ALL ETERNITY), it lasts between 20 years and 10 centuries.

10 centuries is not bad but it's still modest compared to the idea that I had of eternity ...

Notwithstanding this consideration, offering a book is a good idea, especially since it is possible to personalize the gift to infinity. So, for example, for a pest you can take sweet revenge by making him present "Memoirs of Edgar Faure" * ...

* Generally speaking, auto-biographies very often correspond to this criterion.

Let's not confuse:

the use that can be made of a bible on earth: after 10 centuries, the book, if it has not fallen into dust, is downgraded, restored and exhibited in a museum, which limits its use ( always the same page : Evil: )

et

the benefit that one can have: generally the owner of the book joins its creator after 50 to 100 years of use, but others will be able to enjoy it later ...

Well, this year for the children, I bought not new but used occaz.

Toy markets, boncoin.fr, ebay and amazon for books and DVDs.

In short there are plenty of good deals for bcp bcp cheaper than new.

The Itunes tjs card for music.

I discovered this we the Nature et Découvertes store in Clermont Ferrand and frankly there is a mine of eco, useful, sympathetic gift idea

I always have in a corner of the attic the box of cubes (in beech) from my childhood (over half a century ago), which I had from my elders. I like to tell you that what we are doing now is rikiki in comparison!

Okay, now who's responsible for the "old fashioning"?
(obsolescence) I changed the central unit of my sister's computer a few days ago: an old computer from European communities, recycled by Oxfam: it had simply become too small for its new (video) and new applications parts not found compared to the price of new (200 euros). We don't put new wine in old bottles ...
On the other hand the quantity of way to store information decreased (more cassettes). And I still use an old Olivetti keyboard from the time of the PC286 to launch the new machines .....

end of digression we leave the debate.

The beautiful Hélène, you won't mind me scratching you for once ???

Nature et Découvertes is for me the quintessence of exploitation, based on products often made in China (but hey, what's not?), Resold very expensive, in the "ecological - esoteric - vein". gadgetic ". Basically, what Christophe, at the beginning of this thread, was trying to escape, it seems to me ???

Search on the Internet, often you'll find the same gadgets generic version, unlabeled Nature and Discovery, much cheaper. (But they have a few exclusives, it seems)

Now I have nothing against it. I respect those who buy "something" there (including my wife, who bought my "Crocodil Dundee" hat there). I just find that it does not respond to Christophe's order ...

+1 with Did67 for Nature and Discoveries.

It seems to me that the basis of the current ecological approach is changing behavior.

What do you think of a Christmas without gifts?

I'm sure the planet would say a big thank you.

Good food and in bed! :D

No, and then there is the Christmas spirit, the smell of the fir tree in the house, the Christmas carols ... yeah, it gets lost

thinking about it, it's bastard to screw a young tree for 3 weeks of decoration ...

On the gift side, bug, it's a budget every year, finally, I spread my expenses all year round according to the "finds" made in the markets, shops, shopping mall stands

We often get together as a family and that's a lot of people, this year for the kids, we opted for fun "gadgets" to use immediately, each family bringing several odds and ends per kid (apart from the gifts desired by the child, and again, it depends on his newsletter : Cheesy: ... that's hard)

but it is variable, and frankly for adults, who generally do not need anything and it is rather consumable :D

Hello,
One day, my first wife's son complained about his gifts that he did not like.
(This story is true)
So I took this child to a friend who lived in a caravan.
The man lived without heating in the middle of a meadow.
On site, we found a head of chicken, cooked.
The boy asked what it was for; the old man replied, I suck the neck of the chicken when I'm hungry.
The boy took a provisional conscience asked me what we could do for this poor old man.
I offered to go to the corner super market and buy good food with wine, cutlery, napkins etc ...
No sooner said than done.; the kid had understood certain things in life.
The drama :?
The old man was beaten up by a friend when he saw the remains of the meal because he wanted money and thought the old man had hidden the money.
The old died 10 days after the beating, alone in his trailer.
This story is true, I lived it ... it's crazy, life ...
