Furthermore, since our new visitor raises a problem which he thinks is the only one who knows the solution, I would like him to tell us his own calculation ("Think for yourself" is his slogan ... : roll:) and let us take out the gray energy of incandescent lamps compared to compact fluorescent lamps, and then do an LCA with its data ...

Of course Bucheron, but it is a chance if you have a local organic producer near you ... now there is also an alternative: the home-made vegetable patch ... there too you must have the luck and the patience to be able to make it a.

Finally it helps especially because to be self-sufficient (at least on vegetables) with his vegetable garden must get up early!

I have precisely no data of the total energy balance of the compact fluorescents and this is what I had come looking for on this forum.
When to my great despair I saw echoes of propaganda that big companies like Philips is trying to put in our heads.

But I ask myself the simple question:
When does an incandescent light bulb produce CO2?

during manufacturing: certainly less than a compact fluorescent, because it only has a little aluminum, and glass against plastic, electronic components, gas, mercury and more for compact fluorescent
for consumption: not if energy made from nuclear or hydro as in France or Quebec
recycling: certainly less than a compact fluorescent and in addition does not reject heavy metals

So the CO2 balance goes on which bulb ?????

I would like someone to explain to me if I am wrong, I may have simple reasoning, but I have the impression that it holds water.

Without being as local as it is for me (it's true that I'm not complaining ...), Organic has not needs to be imported ...

I find that your criticism based on a particular example is unjustified, it is a criticism that should be directed towards distribution models (nothing to do with organic), but not towards production ...

The "real" organic cannot be bought in the supermarket, organic production is very often accompanied by a reflection which means that the sale is done locally ...

Well yes I took the Moroccan peppers but there were also packs of apples / pear "BIO" under xelophane probably stored in the fridge for 6 months ...

Finally, is it worse than non-organic apples imported from South Africa or Kenyan beans? To cry... :frown:

Toutafé is this supermarket bio that I denounce ...

Well I invite you to add up the components of the bulbs and, for each, to find its equivalent in gray energy.

dalmasxx wrote:[...] for consumption: not if energy made from nuclear or hydro as in France or Quebec
In consumption, an incandescent is VERY disadvantaged compared to a compact fluorescent used identically, regardless of the "cleanliness" of the energy production.

dalmasxx wrote:[...] recycling: certainly less than a compact fluorescent and in addition does not reject heavy metals
From the moment we speak of "recycling", we can consider that components as monitored as heavy metals are not "rejected", but much more surely recovered ...

You tell us, since the controversy is yours.

dalmasxx wrote:[...] but I have the impression that it holds the road.
One impression is not enough in this area.

Well it would be good to announce it at first, otherwise your reader believes that it is ALL the ORGANIC that is targeted : Wink:

Leave Bucheron concrete, he doesn't want to understand ... I left all the links above and he doesn't want to know anything ...

By converting 100% of the HT price of a FLUO bulb into energy and then into CO2, it will have an ABSOLUTE value greatly increased by the CO2 emitted during manufacture (and recycling if the price includes an ecotax): reality is necessarily lower.

Let him do the same for a classic. And it will be clear that the classic is worse in all cases (except fluorescent shit bulb at 2 € piece which slams after a few tens of hours ...)

If there is a problem with the fluorescent it is certainly not the CO2 but the no collection and no recycling of certain fluo with respect to heavy metals ... But all of this is taking place: Recupel in BE, Recyclum in FR ...

Perhaps you think, very naively, that Philips and others do not make incandescent?
