Well now, there are no more pilot lights on modern boilers and water heaters ...
there are basic gas water heaters that can be supplied from a gas cylinder and not connected to the 220V network which have instant ignition (on battery). The reduction in gas consumption is more than 10%.

Good evening everyone,
this weekend, I saw a really fantastic barbeuc work.
It was developed by a person who knew Africa well and wanted to help by reducing the consumption of wood.
It is sold for the benefit of an association
I'm putting some pictures on you.
IF some members are interested I will detail more

Overview

top view of the recovery container, it is insulated under the cover. The heat diffusion plate is removed.

it would still be nice to learn how to rotate your photos before putting them on a forum.
It is a function which is integrated into windows since at least XP

To use less charcoal, I do my barbecue ... wood!

it takes a lot of wood to embers, but in the end, it's better no?

Well, when it is in an environment that does not lend itself to it, charcoal is the top, but otherwise ...

The transformation of wood into charcoal is stifled by carbonization,

We lose 50% of the calorific value, if we tinker quickly,

to notice:
you can cook during carbonization at 500 °
and this with little smoke : Mrgreen:

life is not beautiful!

There is no need for coal, it works with twigs.
I am amazed that nobody finds it good
It's super fuel efficient
With not even the equivalent of a white wooden crate, we cooked 4 pieces of pork in less than 10 minutes

Hello phil53
It can be very ingenious, but can you better detail the installation, just to understand more clearly what it has found / relevant for Africa (or other)? :P

To put it simply, the fireplace is insulated, so the heat is largely used for cooking.
The draft is very good, a bit like a heating system which was detailed on this forum.
We put some paper with tiny twigs, it blazes and it's cooked.
The little extra fat is also used to cook without polluting the food. (there, I have a doubt with respect to the toxicity of the fumes for the air because that remains of the wood fire therefore the low temperature ................ that gives what ?)
The heat licks the baking sheet in the center and rises around the edge of the plate <;
The very big plus for Africa apart from the little fuel used is that we can not cut wood and burn the small dry, dead branches.
Most for us, no need for charcoal, a crate is enough or also our hedge sizes once dry.
