This speech (in fact 45 min + questions) is ultimately very similar in the "pose problems" with that of Edgar Morin: https://www.econologie.com/forums/edgar-mori ... 11675.html (the 2 have also co-wrote a book: "The paths of hope")

On the other hand Hessel goes (a little) further in proposing solutions, in particular by advising the use of modern means of communication (= internet but he must think more precisely, without citing it, on facebook I presume) ... for " awaken spirits "... and" change the current direction of the world "... because the" worst is possible "...

Very good, but for the moment, I believe that facebook is rather the biggest "virtual souk" in the world ...

Question change of society, on econology, we have been on it since 2003 !!!

ps: 94 years, soon, 95 ... great Hessel! When we are told that hope, hope, confidence are the best anti-aging in the world, we may not be wrong, see this fairly comprehensive debate on the longevity of men

Twice (at least) he says that we are not in a democracy but in an oligarchy ... did I misunderstand or do I? :?:

The accounts are made and France loses one of its last great philosopher that night:

Stéphane Hessel, 95, died in the night, announces his wife.

His last life message is undoubtedly the most moving: http://tempsreel.nouvelobs.com/stephane ... -mort.html

Stephane Hessel wrote:"For me, death was at certain times of my life very close since I have brushed it several times. Today that I reach the age where death is there, very near, it will not be able to delay any longer. now to come and fulfill my life.

I consider it with great respect. I consider her with a very friendly expectation. Death is a friend to me. I know it is there. I know it will take its time, that it will find its time.

I am convinced that it will not only end the life of my body but that it will perhaps open the door to something else of which I have absolutely no idea what it is. It is also undoubtedly the beginning of a relation of this being that we are with another dimension of being.

Not only (death) does not scare me but I think it will welcome me with the same kindness that I have been welcomed throughout my life by the beings I have met. I trust him. "

Stéphane Hessel died on the night of Tuesday February 26 to Wednesday February 27. The former resistance fighter who had never ceased to advocate resistance to injustices was notably the author of the little book Indignant you! distributed to millions of copies worldwide and which had opened the eyes to a large number of people. His fight for human rights values lasted until his last breath, an example for many activists.
Man is hailed for his courage and determination, for what he was and what he did. The mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë thus paid tribute to "the authentic humanist, the indomitable resistance fighter, and the generous thinker", praising "the priceless heritage of his combativeness in the service of the universal values of man, and his sense inalienable freedom ”before deploring“ the loss of a close friend ”. He wishes to give his name to a place in the capital. The mayor of the 14th arrondissement has decided to fly the flags of his town hall at half-mast.

More than a thousand people have already gathered on the page "By the millions, let's pay tribute to Stéphane Hessel".
“To the young people, I say: look around you, you will find the themes that justify your indignation - the treatment of immigrants, undocumented migrants, Roma.
You will find concrete situations that lead you to give way to strong citizen action.
Search and you will find! ”

The world:

http://www.lemonde.fr/disparitions/arti ... _3382.html

Quick CV:

Born October 20, 1917 in Berlin, "the year of the Soviet revolution", he liked to recall, in a Jewish family converted to Lutheranism, he arrived in France in 1925. His mother, Helen Grund, was Catherine's model in "Jules et Jim", the story of a woman loved by two friends that Truffaut will bring to the screen, taking inspiration from the novel by Henri-Pierre Roché. His father translates Proust into German with the philosopher Walter Benjamin.

Naturalized in 1937, received at Normale Sup in 1939, Stéphane Hessel, who speaks German, French and English, is the embodiment of the European intellectual. He follows the lessons of Merleau-Ponty, reads Sartre. Mobilized in 1939, taken prisoner, he escapes and joins Charles de Gaulle in London. Sent to France in 1944, he was arrested and deported to Buchenwald, where he made up his identity to escape death. He escapes again, is caught, jumps from a train, rallies the American troops and arrives at Gare du Nord in May 1945.

LEFT MAN AND CONVINCED EUROPEAN

After the Liberation, he joined the UN General Secretariat, participated as secretary in the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and became a diplomat. Raised to the dignity of ambassador of France by François Mitterrand in 1981, he campaigned for the undocumented - he was a mediator during the occupation in Paris of the Saint-Bernard church - and for the Palestinians, which earned him the wrath of Jewish associations.

Promoted Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor in 2006, Stéphane Hessel is also a writer and keen on poetry. Author in 2006 of O my memory: poetry, my necessity, he likes nothing as much as reciting Baudelaire or Verlaine, and knows by heart more than a hundred poems.

In politics, he followed Pierre Mendès-France, supported Michel Rocard in 1985, appeared in 2010 in ineligible position on the lists of Europe Ecology and gave in 2012 his support to the candidate PS François Hollande. A man of the left and a convinced European, he was known for his committed positions.

He had a phenomenal success with his book Indignant you !. As enthusiastic as at 20, he was delighted that his message gathered the support of young people in Spain or Greece, where many protesters brandished his book. This overwhelming success "is still astonishment for me, but this can be explained by a historic moment. Societies are lost, wonder how to get out of it and seek a meaning in the human adventure", he confided in March 2012 to AFP.

I just saw him !

Beautiful life course. He inspired the indignant movement with his pamphlet "Outrage You ".

He is going away at a good age anyway.

The masses are still too "cautious" for such big ideas.

The massive withdrawals from the banks in protest had made a resounding flop. It shows the fragility of civil society in the face of the forces of money and the limits of the philosophical VS capitalist approach!

Sad to say, but it's not okay "not bad enough", for that to change!

However it is possible to make things happen, as with flashmobs, such as during the "Arab Spring", or such as this one against violence against women:

"A billion people who get up"
