History of victims and deaths of Terrorism in the world since 1970. The facts and figures!

Good Huffington Post infographic showing the history of terrorist deaths in Western Europe since 1970 ...

chartoftheday_4093_people_killed_by_terrorist_attacks_in_western_europe_since_1970_n.jpg

So remarks:

there were many many more victims in the 70s and 80s than in 2000

the majority of victims of the 70s and 80s are in the United Kingdom and Spain: I presume victims of IRA and ETA

terrorism sees its psychological effect largely amplified by new technologies (which had a camcorder to film the victims or terrorists in the 70s ???) media, the new media doctrine and the Internet (and that suits terrorists who want to terrorize people)

info to put in perspective maybe, with the dead of hunger and thirst in the world ... is not it a form of terrorism too?

Before talking about hunger ...

Here are the victims of terrorism OUTSIDE Europe by country, 2001-2014:

With the exception of Russia and the USA, these are all countries whose population is predominantly Muslim (so the victims also a priori) ...

Anyone know where the 2600 dead in Russia come from?

We can effectively put into perspective the number of deaths caused by current terrorism (from the Salafist movement), it is also an effective way to decondition the security atmosphere created by the political-media sphere.
Note, for example, that tobacco, junk food and others (!) claim considerably more victims than terrorism.
As a reminder, road accidents kill around 3500 people per year (2015), tobacco over 70 and "junk food" ... 000 deaths (!)
All without generating any general fear ...
This being the case, and despite a "relatively low" number of victims with regard to public health issues, jihadist terrorism has the particularity that it can lead to social and political upheavals out of all proportion to the dangers mentioned above.
The root causes of the latter being multiple, it is then easy for different mobilities to use this one for political purposes, which could ultimately lead to a civil conflict and a profound destabilization of the country ... something more difficult for a cheeseburger or a pack of cigarettes *!

It is therefore interesting to compare his figures with others, but it is also crucial to understand them in their historical contexts.

* That said, junk food and cigarettes are products of mass consumption, themselves from industrial monopolies ... and the latter are far from being innocent in the outbreak of Middle Eastern conflicts, source of current terrorism ....

Some French mass media are starting to say what we said above here ...

Terrorist attack in Egypt: Muslims first victims of terrorism

(...)

Iraq, the first country hit by terrorism

A reality that has been studied by several researchers, arriving at the same conclusion: terrorist acts are mostly perpetrated in the East, and more particularly in Muslim countries, and not in the West, against the collective imagination which flourished since September 11, 2001.
