Emergency shutdown of a nuclear reactor in Norway

A nuclear reactor, used for research purposes and located 25 kilometers from Oslo, was stopped urgently during the night of Friday 8 to Saturday 9 September, high levels of radioactivity having been detected there. These abnormal levels of radioactivity were found inside the reactor, but not outside the building housing it.

“Around 3 o'clock last night, the alarm at the reactor at the Technical Energy Institute in Kjeller went off. The reactor was immediately shut down. No radioactivity above normal values ​​was measured outside "the building, the Norwegian Radiation Protection Agency said in a statement.
