A nuclear reactor, used for research purposes and located 25 kilometers from Oslo, was stopped urgently during the night of Friday 8 to Saturday 9 September, high levels of radioactivity having been detected there. These abnormal levels of radioactivity were found inside the reactor, but not outside the building housing it.
“Around 3 o'clock last night, the alarm at the reactor at the Technical Energy Institute in Kjeller went off. The reactor was immediately shut down. No radioactivity above normal values was measured outside "the building, the Norwegian Radiation Protection Agency said in a statement.
