China will soon be the leading producer of wind power. A new wind power plant has just been built in Guangting, Hebei province. Commissioned in 2007, this plant, which can generate up to 400 MW of capacity, will supply 8% of the electricity needs of the Pekin-Tianjin-Tangshan zone and will thus double the current production of wind power in China.

 

This year, the World Wind Energy Conference (WWEC) and the Asian Wind Energy Conference were merged into a single event held in Beijing from October 31 to November 3.
